Bridge Repair Day 2

The large wooden bridge on trail 200 beside the settling ponds is in need of repairs. A small group of officers led by Chris Haas has been developing a plan for the needed repairs. This bridge is over 20 years old and is constructed with heavy 3” x 12” by 12’ long boards. About a dozen boards need removed and replaced. To do this, crews will be working on the bridge deck and below the deck on ladders and scaffolding to remove the heavy bolts and brackets that hold the boards in place.

The plan is to meet at the club parking lot starting at 9 AM Thursday (8/22), Friday (8/23), Saturday (8/24), and Sunday (8/25). The hours of bridge work will be done until managing club officers leave the site. We are trying to get as much work done as possible each day. If you are able to help at a certain hour(s)/day(s) please contact Chris (757-635-5546) or Joe (412-691-0198).

This is a labor intense project and the extra hands to help will be much appreciated. No construction skills required.

We plan to be able to allow traffic on the bridge while working (with possible delays). Riders, please stop at the bridge and look for an active work party. If there are people working, wait for the go-ahead.

If you plan to come help or have questions, please either email icvatvclub1@gmail.com or contact Chris (757-635-5546) or Joe (412-691-0198).
